Keeping track of the nation’s attitudes towards saving for retirement

SCOTTISH WIDOWS 2023 RETIREMENT REPORT

Since 2005 the Scottish Widows Retirement Report has kept track of the nation’s attitudes towards saving for a pension and its hopes and expectations for the future.

In our 19th annual study we have redefined what it means to save for a comfortable retirement and created a new National Retirement Forecast (NRF) to examine all major aspects of retirement preparations. We've based this on the Pension and Lifetime Savings Association (PLSA)’s retirement living standards to assess the kind of lifestyle that people will be able to afford.

We also take an in depth look at the specific challenges some groups face in saving for retirement - including people living with disabilities, ethnic minorities, the LGBTQ+ community and self-employed workers.
