Retirement Account - sharing our experience & expertise

FIVE WAYS WE HELP YOUR BUSINESS

  1. We support you where and when it matters

We’ve significantly increased the size of our Distribution team and have realigned our Business Development teams around your business needs. Our field based and telephony relationship managers work alongside sales support and servicing relationship managers as one team. This team can:

    • share technical knowledge about our proposition and investments
    • help with business development opportunities and training, as well as providing support for complex servicing issues, all in one place.

And our Business Support Team are technical experts who can help you make the most of Best Advice tools when researching Retirement Account for your clients. They can offer support in person, webex or via our dedicated helpline 0345 128 1404.

  2. We share our experience

Our Pension Specialists regularly present on key topics at seminars, roadshows and industry events, on important issues such as holistic tax planning, investment challenges and how to manage the risks of drawdown.

Through our publications and masterclasses, we provide technical support to help you with your professional development and the challenges you face - letting you focus your time on your clients.

    • TechTalk, our award winning magazine, provides commentary, technical guidance and case studies to keep you up to date on market developments and identify potential planning opportunities.
    • FundsTalk, our newest publication expands into the key area of investments, bringing you topical news and insight from our investment experts with their latest thinking and analysis.
    • CPD Masterclasses, our range of pension focused Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) accredited courses give technical guidance designed to support your professional development.

You can register for TechTalk and FundsTalk, read useful articles and case studies or view our CPD Masterclasses here

  3. We share our insight

We continue to take the lead on behalf of advisers, consumers and the industry on key issues relating to the UK retirement gap. This year is our 15th annual Women and Retirement report which highlights the unique challenges women face in saving for their futures. We can help you with practical resources and issues to consider when having client conversations, including maternity leave, reduced working hours and childcare costs, with our new Your Future retirement website for women. With our role on the CII’s Insuring Women’s Futures and our partnerships with organisations such as Mumsnet, we continue to lead the way on this important issue.

Our Retirement report also turns 15 this year. Since 2005 we have been keeping track of the nation’s attitudes towards saving for retirement and their hopes and expectations for the future, showing how people’s attitudes and circumstances have changed over the years and how people feel about saving for their long-term future. In addition to our annual study, this year we are following up the main report with a series of mini reports focusing on different aspects of our research findings, such as The Future of Retirement.

We’re supporting UK pension reform with our call to develop a more modern and reflective pension policy. Our recent report, Helping Britain Save for the Future, shared our vision for a long-term savings framework that could work better for UK savers, our recommendations and the policy changes needed to get us there.

We’ve worked with economists, Government bodies, trade bodies and many others to develop these proposals, including enabling people to take money out of their pension to help with buying a first home. We believe, if implemented, these changes could make a significant difference and we hope our report will be catalyst for a wider national debate.

  4. We educate on pensions and promote the importance of financial advice

Since 2015 we’ve been the main sponsors of Pension Awareness Day a UK-wide tour, that aims to engage with the public to help them to better understand their pension, and empower them to take control of saving for their financial future.

This year we’re building on this with our “Taking on your Future” campaign, with the aim of helping people across the UK plan their financial future better. With resources to help them every step of the way, with useful financial planning tools, guides, articles, reports and other insight. You can use our financial planning tools and short pension basics films with your clients to help them understand the issues, challenges and opportunities they may be facing, whatever stage of the retirement journey.

You can visit our Taking on your Future page here.

  5. We help you navigate regulatory change

We’re always looking at ways we can help you grow your business within an evolving regulatory landscape. The complex area of Defined Benefit transfers is a good example, where expert financial advice has never been as valuable.

Increased regulatory focus has brought challenges and complex rules to navigate, with the recent FCA consultation on contingent charges being the latest example. We’re focused on helping you achieve the right outcomes for your clients. In addition to our Pension Specialists, who can present on the technical aspects and implications of DB transfers, if it is right for your client to proceed with a transfer, our servicing team will be there to support you through the process.

We have a dedicated site to support you with your DB conversations, including insight and practical help with checklists and guides for your clients. You can visit it here.
