Supporting families in the workplace, is our latest report from the Scottish Widows Centre for the Modern Family (CMF), examining how employers and employees are working together to achieve a better work/life balance with a focus on flexible working.
With almost one in four UK workers (23%) willing to take a pay cut in exchange for more flexible working hours pressure is building on employers as they struggle to live up to their employees’ expectations.
Although employers are positive about introducing flexible working policies – with two thirds (65%) acknowledging that they increase productivity and wellbeing in the workplace. Many are failing to offer a flexible working arrangement, with 47% saying the type of work they do makes it difficult to work remotely or from home.
Our report looks at how both employers and employees can work together to achieve a better work/life balance and if flexible working is the answer.

This report is based on both quantitative and qualitative inputs, including a nationally representative YouGov survey of 2,000 adults. The report also benefitted from a further YouGov survey of 500 business leaders across all sizes of employer, interviews and discussions with the Centre for the Modern Family panellists, and a series of focus group sessions.
