Christine Ohuruogu's tactical brilliance in the 400m
The Olympic Games are where dreams are made but also shattered. For Ohuruogu this was to be her biggest race ever and her chance to add an Olympic medal to her world title - and she did it to perfection although I think it still hasn't sunk in as yet for her!
A combination of mental strength and sheer determination, 24 year old Ohuruogu has been compared to Australia's Cathy Freeman, another 400m great who delivered an incredible performance at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
Ohuruogu's stunning win followed a silver medal win for British high jumper Germaine Mason who switched allegiance from Jamaica in 2006 and made his Olympic debut in Beijing.
Earlier, an emotional Chris Hoy became the first Briton to win three gold medals in a single Olympic Games for 100 years, beating Team GB's Jason Kenny in the cycling sprint final.
After such a victorious performance at these Games, Chris Hoy makes no secret that he is relieved it is all over and now suffering mental and physical exhaustion. He is spot on when he says the emotional side is almost tougher than the physical side when competing at an Olympic Games.
Cyclist Victoria Pendleton has also won Britain's sixth track cycling gold at these Games with victory over Australia's Anna Meares in the women's sprint final.
Just this morning Britain's Keri-Anne Payne and Cassie Patten have taken silver and bronze in the 10km swim, with Bryony Shaw securing a bronze in the windsurfing.
