I have changed service provider, what do I need to do with Scottish Widows?

If you already hold a directly authorised agency with Scottish Widows, all we require is written confirmation from your new service provider, confirming your membership. If you do not, written confirmation from your new service provider will be required and a new Scottish Widows Agency ApplicationThis symbol denotes that the link will open in a new window will have to be completed.

I have changed from one network to another – what do I need to do to ensure I can continue to service my clients?

You have two options:
  • In order to retain your existing agency with Scottish Widows, we will require written agreement to transfer business from your previous network. We will also require written confirmation of acceptance of the liability (for all transferred business) from your new network.
  • Should you wish to transfer your existing business to a new Scottish Widows agency, we will require a written request from your new network, along with confirmation of the acceptance of the liability. Agreement to transfer the business will also be required form your previous network.

How often do SW issue commissions?

If you are an Appointed Representative, commissions will be issued at a time period agreed between your authorised company and Scottish Widows. If you are directly authorised, you have the option to be paid weekly or monthly basis (so long as the balance is over £400.00).

I have taken over/ have been taken over by another intermediary business – what do I need to do to allow me to service these clients?

In order to transfer business from one agency to another, we will require the following:
  • If you are an appointed representative (joining another company as an appointed representative) we will require written agreement to the transfer from your old company and written acceptance of all business and liability from the new company.
  • If you are an appointed representative (becoming directly authorised with the FSA) we will require written agreement to the transfer from your old company and written acceptance of all business and liability from your new directly authorised company.
  • If you are a directly authorised IFA, taking over someone else's business, we require written agreement to the transfer (from the company you are taking over) and acceptance of all business and liability from you.

I would like to take out a non-indemnity agency (as well as my existing Indemnity agency), what do I need to do?

If you are Directly Authorised. once you have completed the Agency ApplicationThis symbol denotes that the link will open in a new window for an Indemnity agency and one has been granted, we require a written request for a non-indemnity agency. If you are an Appointed representative, we require a written request from your authorised company.

I have a new RI joining the firm & I require an agency for him under my agreement – what do I need to do?

A written request on headed notepaper, requesting a new agency for the new RI will suffice.

I am changing from a Ltd to PLC Company what to do you require from me?

If it is purely a status change all we require is a copy of your name change certificate. If your FSA number is changing we will require a new Agency ApplicationThis symbol denotes that the link will open in a new window to be completed.

I am changing my status from an AR to become directly authorised. What do I need to do?
