Maria and Christopher, London
“It is vitally important to talk to your children about finances from a young age, even 4 or 5 years old.”
Maria and husband Christopher live together with their daughters, Ella, 12, and Lauren, 15, and their pets. Maria took redundancy to stay at home with the children and Christopher works in IT. They are very secure financially and regularly save.
Maria handles the family’s finances and believes it’s important to talk to children about money from a young age – both daughters have saving accounts and are already saving towards buying a flat. Maria says this stems from her own upbringing to be responsible with money, as her parents were strict savers. They enjoy family time, including attending church, camping and exploring together. Maria says she hopes her daughters follow through on their aspirations of becoming a doctor and an accountant.
